Midweek Mindfulness

Happy Wednesday

Mindfulness in a Minute

The Definition from Oxford languages

The quality or state of being conscious
or aware of something.

A mental state achieved by focusing one's
awareness on the present moment, while
calmly acknowledging and accepting
one's feelings, thoughts and bodily
sensations used as a therapeutic technique.

Mindfulness quote of the day

'Mindfulness is about love and loving life.
When you cultivate this love, it gives you
clarity and compassion for life, and your
actions happen in accordance with that.'
Jon Kabat-Zinn

My personal feeling about Mindfulness is
that it is hugely important for everybody
to understand and to get to grips with; not
only for personal wellbeing but for your
personal wellbeing when in your work-
place as well - being the place where
you spend the majority of your life.

Thus being conscious of your emotions
and your state of mind on a daily and
hourly basis will be hugely beneficial
to your day-to-day wellbeing.

Thought for the Day

Stop what you are doing a few times a
day to start with: then analyse your
present state, and ask yourself:

How do I feel?
Am I focused?
Do I have any negative thoughts?

And, for a start, if you do:

Get up; if you are sitting, walk around
the office, or take yourself out of the
work environment for five minutes and
think of something happy or do
something to get your mind off those
previous thoughts/feelings.

And hopefully this will interrupt
your previous state and reset you
back to be able to focus on the current
task in hand.

Until next time.
