Wellbeing Wednesday

Quote of the day

"The body benefits from movement, and
the mind benefits from stillness."
Sakyong Mipham

Encouraging exercise

Get the team exercising; encourage it; set aside
time for it in the working day; promote walking
meetings and brisk walking on lunch times.

Encouraging stillness

2 minutes of guided stillness from the comfort
of your work chair. The team leader to phone,
message or email the team that on this day
and time there will be a 2 minutes guided
meditation.

Mindfulness and what is it

The idea is called mindfulness. This
ancient practice is about being completely
aware of what's happening in the present -
of all that's going on inside and all that's
happening around you. It means not
living your life on "autopilot." Instead, you
experience life as it unfolds moment to
moment, good and bad, and without
judgement or preconceived notions.

Studies suggest that mindfulness practices
may help people manage stress, cope better
with serious illness and reduce anxiety and
depression. Many people who practice
mindfulness report an increased ability
to relax, a greater enthusiasm for life and
improved self-esteem.

I'll leave you with this quote

'The mind is like water. When it's turbulent,
it's difficult to see. When it's calm,
everything becomes clear.'
